What does “asqueroso” mean in Spanish?
Asqueroso means disgusting, and it is built on asco, “disgust.” The noun is the one you will hear most: ¡Qué asco! is the everyday “gross!” or “yuck!”, said about a smell, a dirty bathroom, a bad meal or a nasty piece of news. Me da asco is “it grosses me out.” Learn asco first and asqueroso follows as simply “full of asco.”
In the clip asqueroso is the flip side of delicioso: the teacher runs through opposites (feliz / infeliz, fácil / difícil, ganar / perder, pena / alegría), and “delicious versus disgusting” is the pair for food. Spanish leans on asco far more than English uses “disgust”: ¡qué asco de día! is just “what a rotten day,” and está hecho un asco means a place or a person is a mess.
