What does “rodé” mean in French?

Rodé is the past participle of roder, a French verb borrowed from car mechanics: when you roder an engine, you break it in over the first hundred kilometres. The figurative use spread: a presenter is rodé after the first few shows; a stand-up’s set is rodé by the third Avignon Festival night. Used about a person, it never sounds insulting; it sounds professional.

In this clip, French YouTuber PI-WAN comes back from his first ever fan-meetup salon in Paris, says it was loud, his lapel mic struggled, but he’s now rodé for next time. He also drops a soft Parisian Big Fernand reference, the slightly upmarket gourmet burger chain that started near Boulevard Haussmann.
