Emma raconte son départ de la Star Academy

What does “mon binôme” mean in French?
Binôme comes from school travaux en binôme, the mandatory pair-work format used from primary school through engineering grandes écoles. Once you graduate, the word follows you: lab partner, climbing partner, on-call doctor partner, and now reality-TV duo. Mon binôme sounds warmer than mon coéquipier and more specific than mon ami. It implies that the two of you are intentionally bound to each other for a task.
In this Star Academy debrief, eliminated singer Emma calls her on-stage duet partner Maceo mon binôme de l’aventure and credits him as the symbolic centre of her castle months. The word does what an English equivalent can’t: it’s institutional, affectionate and slightly proud, all at once.
