What is “skyr” in Poland?

Skyr, the Icelandic strained yogurt, became a Polish supermarket staple in the 2010s, marketed by dairies like Bakoma, Piątnica, and Krasnystaw as a high-protein gym food. Polish speakers, who tend to give nouns affectionate endings, quickly gave it the diminutive treatment: skyr → skyrek (“little skyr”). The diminutive doesn’t make the product smaller; it makes it friendly.
