How do you say a woman “got married” in Hungarian?

Hungarian splits “to marry” by gender. A woman “feleségül megy” — literally “goes as a wife” (feleség “wife” + the -ül “as” ending) — and names the groom with the directional -hoz/-hez/-höz suffix: “feleségül ment Péterhez.” A man does the mirror image: “feleségül vesz (valakit),” he “takes (someone) as a wife.” Same wedding, two opposite verbs depending on who is speaking.

A woman has a second, even more common way to say it: “férjhez megy” — férj “husband” + -hez “to,” literally “to go to a husband.” So feleségül megy and férjhez megy are synonyms, both for the bride. For the groom, besides feleségül vesz there is the standalone megnősül (“he marries,” no object needed). And the gender-neutral összeházasodnak means “they marry each other.” The reel’s heartbreak rides on it: the childhood love “máshoz ment feleségül” — she married someone else.
