Pinligt is the Danish word for “embarrassing,” but in spoken teen Danish it covers a wider range: awkward, cringe, mortifying, please-stop. The interjection årh, pinligt altså! (“oh, so embarrassing!”) is teenage-Danish-girl-coded, in the same bucket as American “ew, dad, stop.”
