What does “diseredato” mean in Italian?
Start with erede, “heir.” Add the prefix dis-, which reverses or undoes, and you get diseredare — to cut someone out of an inheritance. So diseredato is “disinherited”: stripped of the inheritance you would otherwise have received. The same reversive dis- that turns fare into disfare (“undo”) is doing the work here, turning the person who inherits into the person cut off from it.
In this confrontation, one side hurls “la ragione per cui sei stato diseredato” (“the reason you were disinherited”) and then dares the other, “se desideri essere ancora l’erede, dovrai uccidermi” (“if you still want to be the heir, you’ll have to kill me”) — erede and diseredato sitting side by side in one breath, the prefix laid bare. Once you spot dis- as the “un-/de-” prefix, a whole family opens up: fare → disfare (undo), onesto → disonesto (dishonest), ordine → disordine (disorder). And erede itself traces back to Latin heres / heredem, the root behind English “heir,” “heritage,” and “inherit.”
