What does “trollad” mean in Swedish?

In Swedish, “trollad” means enchanted or bewitched. It comes from the verb “trolla,” to do magic — the same word family as “troll,” the creature. So if someone calls a drink “trollad,” they are joking that troll-magic was worked on it. The everyday word for a magic trick shares a root with the fairy-tale monster.

The verb “trolla” covers everything from a stage magician pulling a rabbit from a hat to full fairy-tale enchantment. As an adjective it becomes “trollad”: en trollad dryck (an enchanted drink), ett trollat slott (a bewitched castle). A “trollkarl” (literally “troll-man”) is a wizard or magician. In the clip, the host ends a playful guessing game by saying the drink is “magiskt för trollad dryck” — magic because it is a bewitched drink — leaning into the double meaning, both a magic trick and the troll itself.
