Teriyaki soslu tavuk ve pratik mutfak temizliği
A2 Turkish poslechová cvičení · Turkish · Vybráno pro začátečníci
What does “afiyet olsun” mean in Turkish?
This teriyaki-chicken recipe signs off the standard way: «Şimdiden deneyecek herkese afiyet olsun» (“afiyet olsun to everyone who tries it”). Afiyet olsun is Turkey’s “bon appétit,” but more flexible, you can say it before, during, or after a meal.
Literally it means “may it bring health” (afiyet, from Arabic, is “health, well-being”), so it doubles as a warm “hope you enjoyed it” once the plate is clean. The cook who feeds you hears “eline sağlık” (“health to your hands”) in return. Turkish wraps eating in good wishes at both ends of the table.
