Waarom sommige mensen een rode stip dragen
A2 Dutch poslechová cvičení · Dutch · Vybráno pro začátečníci
What is the red dot (“bindi”) that Hindus wear?
The bindi (also called tilak in some contexts) is a colored mark worn on the forehead in Hindu religious and cultural practice. The shape and color carry meaning: red dots are most common for married women, white tilak lines mark devotion to Vishnu, and decorative bindis are also worn as everyday cultural identification. Het Klokhuis frames the topic for Dutch kids through the country’s Surinamese-Hindu and Indo-Surinamese diaspora, who maintain temple-going traditions in cities like Den Haag, Amsterdam, and Rotterdam. The Hague’s Shri Vishnu Mandir and Sri Hari Mandir serve thousands of practising families.
In this clip, Klokhuis answers: “Waarom hebben sommige mensen een rode stip op me voorhoofd? Die rode stip die heeft te maken met een geloof, namelijk het Hindoeïsme.”
