Who are the Dutch “prinsesjes” Amalia, Alexia, and Ariane?

The Dutch royal family has three teen daughters: Amalia (Princess of Orange, born 2003 and heir apparent), Alexia (2005), and Ariane (2007). King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima have made the trio’s public appearances quietly central to Dutch royal coverage. Amalia, formally De Prinses van Oranje, postponed her Spanish university year for safety reasons in 2022 after credible threats. The three together are usually called de prinsesjes (the little princesses), an affectionate diminutive that has carried into their teens.
