Why do Czech speakers say 'králíčci' instead of 'králíci'?

Králíčci is the cute-form plural of králík (rabbit). Czech adds -eček, -ka, -ičky endings to almost any noun to make it small or sweet. Pejsek a kočička, Bob a Bobek, Křemílek a Vochomůrka are all children’s classics built on these endings. The plain králíci exists, but králíčci says kids' show before the rabbits even appear.

Here the narrator opens with « Tohle je asi největší pampeliška na světě. Pojd’te se podívat, jak si s ní poradili naši králíčci » (this is maybe the biggest dandelion in the world; come see how our králíčci handled it). Two characters, a single dandelion, the -čci ending doing the emotional work the camera doesn’t have to.
