What is a “kitchen booth” in American English?

A kitchen booth is a built-in bench seat at a kitchen or dining table, almost always padded and shaped like an L. The design is borrowed from American diners, which used booths to fit more customers in tight spaces. In American homes, a kitchen booth saves floor space and gives kids a cozy spot to do homework or eat snacks. Tiny houses, small apartments, and 1950s-style retro kitchens often have them.
