What does “neața” mean in Romanian?

Neața is the casual, clipped Romanian “good morning,” shortened from bună dimineața. Romanians drop the bună dim- and keep just the tail of the word. The greeting is informal and warm: you’d say neața to family, roommates, friends, and partners, but not to your boss on a first meeting. The clipping fits a wider Romanian habit of softening morning conversation: full bună dimineața feels formal; neața fits a kitchen still half-asleep.
