What does “lekker dan” mean in Dutch?
“Lekker” is one of Dutch’s most common words: tasty, nice, pleasant, comfortable. Add “dan” (then/so) and the meaning shifts. Lekker dan becomes a flat “fine, whatever” or “that’s just great” — often with a dry edge. Something goes wrong, the plan falls apart, and “lekker dan” is how you note it with a shrug. It can be genuinely accepting, but it’s more often the Dutch way of saying “oh great, lovely” — without really meaning it.
In the clip, children are asked to repeat Dutch phrases they don’t understand.
