حلمت أنني أميرة ثم استيقظت

What does “min al-an fasaidan” (من الآن فصاعدًا) mean?
من الآن فصاعدًا is the set phrase for “from now on,” and its logic is lovely: صاعدًا literally means “ascending,” so Arabic pictures the future as time climbing upward from this moment. It’s the phrase for announcing new rules and new eras — which is exactly how the dreaming girl in this clip uses it: من الآن فصاعدًا، لن أقوم بالكثير من الواجبات المدرسية — “from now on, I won’t be doing much homework.”
The dream collapses, of course — she wakes mid-sentence with the essential question هل كنت أحلم مجددًا؟ (“was I dreaming again?”). The formula has a downward-looking sibling for prices and numbers: فما دون (“and below”) or فأقل, while فما فوق means “and above.” The فـ prefix in all of them is the connector “and then,” doing quiet grammatical work.
